Germany Recognizes Gizil's Brownfield Asset Intelligence Technology as an Official R&D Project

Independent validation of the technology powering the next generation of industrial asset intelligence

Gizil is proud to announce that the core technology behind Virtual Plant, our Brownfield Asset Intelligence Platform, has been officially recognized as a qualifying research and development (R&D) project under Germany's Research Allowance Act (Forschungszulagengesetz – FZulG). The recognition confirms that the project meets the German criteria for technological novelty, scientific and technical uncertainty, and systematic research and development.

Recognizing Innovation Beyond Traditional Software

The approved R&D project focuses on developing a new software engine capable of contextualizing 3D reality capture, engineering documentation, and enterprise data into a unified operational intelligence platform for industrial assets.

Rather than treating industrial data as isolated information sources, the technology creates contextual relationships between physical assets, engineering documentation, and operational systems, enabling a new generation of industrial applications built on trusted asset intelligence.

Why Brownfield Asset Intelligence Matters

Industrial organizations are entering a new era shaped by artificial intelligence, automation, the energy transition, evolving regulations, and workforce transformation.

Yet one of the industry's greatest challenges remains largely overlooked.

More than 80% of industrial facilities worldwide are brownfield assets; plants that have evolved over decades through continuous modifications, undocumented changes, fragmented engineering information, and disconnected operational systems.

These existing assets represent trillions of euros of industrial value, but they also present one of the biggest barriers to digital transformation.

Without a trusted understanding of existing assets, organizations struggle to deploy AI, accelerate modernization programs, improve operational resilience, or efficiently manage infrastructure throughout its lifecycle.

We believe this challenge will define the next chapter of industrial digitalization.

Building the Foundation for Industrial AI

At Gizil, we believe that the future of industrial operations begins with making existing assets digitally understandable.

This vision has led to the development of Virtual Plant, our Brownfield Asset Intelligence Platform, designed to transform fragmented engineering information into connected operational knowledge.

By combining reality capture, engineering validation, contextual data integration, and operational workflows, Virtual Plant enables organizations to build a reliable digital foundation for existing industrial facilities without relying on costly and time-consuming remodelling approaches.

We call this approach Brownfield Asset Intelligence.

A Milestone in Gizil's Journey

Receiving this recognition in Germany; one of the world's leading industrial and engineering ecosystems, is an important milestone in Gizil's technology journey.

More importantly, it represents independent validation of the technological direction we have pursued since the beginning: that the future of industrial innovation depends not only on smarter AI, but on creating trusted digital foundations for the industrial assets that already exist.

As industrial organizations continue to modernize existing facilities while preparing for the next generation of AI-enabled operations, Gizil remains committed to advancing Brownfield Asset Intelligence as a practical, scalable, and future-ready approach to industrial digitalization.
